Have you ever made a mistake?

Imagine that you were labeled by that mistake for the rest of your life!

The truth is, we do it all the time.

Many ( not all) criminals are people just like me and you who made a mistake, got into trouble, and now seek a path of return. 3% of Americans will spend time in prison over their lifetime. Yet, when it comes to finding a job, even one completely unrelated to their crime, their “criminal record,” even for a petty offense, usually has the last say.

This isn’t just true for criminals. We all make mistakes, often labeling and defining ourselves by our own shortcomings. How do we undergo our own effective rehabilitation? How do we escape our own limiting beliefs about ourselves and set ourselves firmly on the path of return?

Crime and Consequence  is a new adult education JLI course that gets to the heart of these issues with fascinating case studies highlighting the desperate need for criminal justice reform and exploring Jewish approaches to reclaim one’s innocence.
